The memorial complex dedicated to Valchan Voyvoda combines legend, spirituality and nature in a way that is hard to forget. We enter through a symbolic gate with a message, climb up to the monument and fall into a world where every plaque speaks – of freedom, truth and duty.

The site combines three main elements: a majestic monument to Vulchan Voyvoda (erected in 2015 in the area of Vulcha Polyana), a cromlech with 12 stones inspired by Thracian cult structures, and a small chapel. All objects are surrounded by inscriptions with quotes and messages. The complex is maintained by the Stars Under the Stars Foundation and is becoming an increasingly popular place of worship and reflection. Every year at the end of August, a festival dedicated to the Voivode is held here. The legend of him links history, mysticism and philanthropy – including support for the Georgiev brothers and the idea of establishing the University of Sofia.
The path starts from the parking lot in front of the high entrance arch with the inscription “Valchan Voyvoda Memorial Complex”. We pass through alleys with engraved messages and a spiritual gate. We come to the monument of the Voivode, where there is an engraved legend about his life. Next we walk around the cromlech – a modern version of an ancient Thracian structure, with symbolic inscriptions by Botev, Levski and others. The narrative moves through Valchan’s biography: from the tragic loss of his beloved Rada, through the creation of a detachment, the attacks on Ottoman caravans, donations for education and plans for armed help from Russia. The visit ends with a view of the dam, benches for relaxation, a chapel and a mystical sunset, soundtracked by an emotional finale.
