Episode BG45. Krastova Gora, Krastov Peak and the “World of the Gods”!
Hello, Bulgaria! 🇧🇬
Cross Forest is a sacred place hidden in the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains, which for centuries has been considered one of the strongest energy centers in Bulgaria. Often called the “Bulgarian Holy Forest”, this place combines the silence of the mountains with the mysticism of ancient beliefs, miraculous stories and hundreds of crosses left by pilgrims. The central place is occupied by Cross Peak, a high meadow where a piece of the Cross of Christ is believed to be buried. Against this sacred backdrop, not far away, tower bizarre rocks known as the ‘World of the Gods’, adding to the sense of connection with something higher, beyond the visible.

📝 Brief summary of the episode
Cross Forest is located at an altitude of about 1545 metres and is accessed by a scenic mountain road. The center of the place is the monastery complex “Holy Trinity”, built in the XX century on foundations that, according to legend, date back to the time of King Boris III. Pilgrims come here on September 14 – Cross Day, when it is believed that the heavens open and wishes come true. Nearby are the rock formations “World of the Gods” – structures sculpted by nature that resemble thrones, faces and animal figures, and are seen as the gateway to another, unseen reality.
🔥 What will you see in this episode?
The climb to Cross Peak reveals not only an impressive panorama of the Rhodope Mountains, but also a sense of spiritual presence that is difficult to describe in words. Along the way you pass chapels, wooden crosses and prayer places left by people hoping for healing or inner peace. At the very top stands a large metal cross, installed in 1995, along with a place of worship. The hike to the World of the Gods requires more effort – the rocks are scattered in the forest, not far from the main route, and impress with their bizarre shapes that lack logical explanation. The experience combines pilgrimage, natural beauty and a sense of mystery left among the trees and rocks.
In the episode, the road begins with a vigorous climb on the north side of Cross Forest, passing through a mist-submerged forest road where only the silhouettes of the crosses stand out in the grey morning. The sunrise over Cross Peak is both dramatic and quiet, with the rays breaking through the clouds. A vast panorama gradually reveals itself in the frame, encompassing the Rhodope ridges and green valleys. After the pilgrimage to the summit, the route continues to a lesser-known area, the World of the Gods. There one can see rocks with sculpted shapes that resemble faces and figures, creating the illusion of the presence of something ancient and conscious. The atmosphere is enhanced by the mist and the quiet sounds of the forest that make it feel almost supernatural. Throughout, natural vistas and personal moments of contemplation alternate, without words but with a clear sense of significance.
