According to legend, he was a bishop in the city of Magnesia (in modern-day Turkey) and was known for his miraculous ability to heal diseases. In folk beliefs, he is said to “hold” all illnesses, but grants healing and blessings to those who honor his day.

According to tradition, honey is blessed on this day and then used as a remedy throughout the year. The blessed honey is known as “Haralampius honey” and is believed to help with colds, wounds, and various illnesses.
