Belintash is a rocky plateau in the Rhodope Mountains, shrouded in mystery and legend, which has excited archaeologists, esotericists and travelers for centuries. The rocky massif rises over 1,200 meters high near the village of Vrata and bears traces of ancient civilizations – holes, sinkholes and chutes carved into the stone with amazing precision. Some say they were used for rituals, others for astronomical observations. Belintash is part of a sacred triangle together with the Cross Forest and Karadzhov Stone and is often called “the Bulgarian Stonehenge”. The place is also known for its energetic impact, and from the edge of the plateau you can see an impressive panorama of the endless Rhodope Mountains.

Excavations indicate the presence of a temple, fortress and rock tombs, while legends tell of buried artifacts and a hidden library of the Bogomils. In recent decades, Belintash has attracted not only scholars but also people seeking contact with the other realm – through meditation, ritual and contemplation.

We enter the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, where Belintash stands as a natural and spiritual fortress. The climb starts from the Church of St. After a short hike along a trail, we reach the rock platform where a unique view unfolds. On the plateau itself, you can clearly distinguish cranes, chutes and carved shapes that follow a complex logic, as if created for astronomical observation. The footage also traces the site’s close relationship to the energy triangle – Cross Forest, Karajov Stone and Belintash, examining the possible symbolism of the living, the gods and the afterlife. Our route starts from the village of Vrata, where after a 15-minute drive along a narrow and dangerous stretch we reach the temple of Sts. Cross”. After a short climb we find ourselves on Belintash itself – a rock plateau with unique shapes and indentations, part of a sacred triangle. Archaeological discoveries related to cult rituals, ancient shrines and observatories are mentioned on the site. We explore various hypotheses about its purpose, from a sacred centre of the Thracians to an extraterrestrial contact. We also pay attention to the shrines, the mysterious cross and the strong symbolism of the place. A parallel is drawn with global megalithic sites, and the atmosphere is conveyed through moments of silence and contemplation, without the need for words.
