On March 3rd, Bulgaria celebrates its National Day<\/strong> \u2013 the day the country was resurrected as a free state after five centuries of Ottoman rule<\/strong>. On this date in 1878<\/strong>, the Treaty of San Stefano<\/strong> was signed, marking the end of the Russo-Turkish War (1877\u20131878)<\/strong> and outlining the borders of the reborn Bulgarian state.<\/p>\n

What do we commemorate on March 3rd?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bulgaria\u2019s National Day is more than just a historical date \u2013 it is a symbol of the Bulgarian will for freedom and independence<\/strong>. For centuries, the Bulgarian people preserved their spirit, language, and culture<\/strong>, despite foreign domination. The National Revival<\/strong>, the April Uprising of 1876<\/strong>, and the heroism of the Bulgarian volunteers<\/strong> during the Battle of Shipka Pass<\/strong> are just some of the events that paved the way to Bulgaria\u2019s liberation.<\/p>\n

March 3rd<\/strong> is a day when all of Bulgaria remembers<\/strong> the sacrifice of thousands of soldiers and volunteers who gave their lives for freedom. Across the country, solemn ceremonies<\/strong>, wreath-laying<\/strong>, and military parades<\/strong> are held in their honor.<\/p>\n
