Venetsa Cave with the Virgin Mary and STRANGE Formations!

Hello, Bulgaria! 🇧🇬

Venets Cave is located near the village of Oreshets in Northwestern Bulgaria and is one of the most beautiful illuminated caves in the country. Discovered accidentally during blasting activities in 1970, it remained hidden from the general public until 2015, when it was officially opened to tourists. With its colorfully lit halls, whimsical formations and an atmosphere reminiscent of a fantasy world, Venetza impresses with its plasticity, imagination and silence. Here one can find formations that resemble the Virgin Mary, the Buddha, waterfalls of crystals, a wishing lake and even figures such as jellyfish and bats sculpted by time.

🚩 Timecode for quick access to video moments

You can navigate directly to a desired moment in the video by clicking on the timer👆
0:00 – Inside, metal walkways have been constructed for safe movement, and the light show changes automatically every 12 seconds, creating an exciting atmosphere. Figures resembling the Virgin Mary, Buddha, jellyfish, cakes and others, sculpted as if from the imagination, stand out among the rock forms. The cave is open to visitors every day except Mondays and offers an affordable experience for a nominal fee.

Обратно към статията

🔥 What will you see in this episode?

Venetsa Cave was discovered in 1970 during blasting activities in the area of the village of Oreshets, but remained unknown to the general public until 2015, when it was adapted for tourist access. It is located in the Belogradchik karst massif and is considered one of the most beautiful caves in Bulgaria due to the richness and diversity of cave formations. Its total length is about 417 meters, and the tourist route includes nearly 200 meters through four halls and an observation platform to the fifth. The temperature is about 10°C, the humidity is almost 100% and the lighting is precisely synchronized, creating a light show every 12 seconds. Among the most striking formations are dendrites resembling coral, a waterfall of crystals, figures resembling the Virgin Mary and Buddha, and the dried-up ‘wishing lake’. The cave has been the subject of karstological and geological research, and its layout is designed to the highest safety standards. There are no archaeological finds, but its value is purely geomorphological and aesthetic – an example of an active karst process in the region.

After a short drive from Kozarnika, we stop at a parking lot next to Venetsa Cave and walk about 500 meters to the entrance. The cave impresses from the first steps – the entrance is equipped with helmets, the route is secured, and the interior unfolds with illuminated halls and bizarre formations. Specific shapes such as “Buddha”, “Virgin Mary”, “jellyfish”, “wishing lake” and the unique “waterfall of crystals” are shown. The humidity is almost 100%, the temperature stable and the acoustics amplify the mystique. The lights change at intervals, and a metal walkway leads to an observation platform where the last room is visible. At the end, the same path exits. Tickets, opening times and the lack of a toilet are also mentioned. The ending is positive, with a recommendation for viewers to share, like and subscribe.

Обратно към статията

⭐ Location assessment

The assessment is entirely based on my personal impression and is made according to several main criteria considered separately.
